My Handsome Boy

Judge me not, my dear professional photographer friends! I decided, last minute, that Kye's baptism invitations needed a picture so we hopped, skipped and jumped (yes, it is that close) on over to the beach. I am certain that you could have mastered the lighting and made those baby blues even brighter but I figure that with a boy as handsome as mine I couldn't mess them up too bad!

Todd claims that I am biased but I think Kye is way too handsome!

Our baby is 2!

When Lola was an infant our term of endearment for her was "little bug". Ever since then we have had a thing for lady bugs. So we planned a ladybug party to celebrate Lola's 2nd birthday. At the end of the night we sent the children home with their own jar of ladybugs.
When our guests would wish Lola a happy birthday she would in turn respond by wishing them a happy birthday.
Our sweet little neighbor, Mihika, was so happy about coming to a ladybug party that she pulled out her ladybug Halloween costume. It left me wishing I'd found Lola a ladybug costume, too!

I made Lola's cake. Todd laughed and shook his head at me after I kept repeating "This is harder than I thought it would be." He reminded me that I'd said the same thing about the invitations, chocolate covered Oreo ladybugs and the fruit bouquet. In my mind, I'm able to whip it all together quickly but in real life it's always a different story!

After blowing out the candle, Lola promptly grabbed it and tried to eat it. I must admit for a candle it did look delicious!

Lola got all of my favorite presents, wood puzzles, books, darling clothes and cute flowers for her hair.
Oh! and these perfect little shoes from mommy! How could I pass up strappy, snake skin sandals?

Mother's day

My cute kids made Mother's Day so special, once again. They made me some thoughtful handmade gifts (thanks to their great teachers), took me to lunch at Sammy's, bought me a new book and made the whole weekend very special. I can't put into words how much I love being a mother. The love I have for my children is indescribable. I'm so blessed!

La Jolla Symphony

Our good friend, Ben, was commissioned to write a piece for The La Jolla Symphony. Todd and I went to the performance of Ben's piece, In Paradisum. It was amazing. He is a musical genius. His work is very modern and I'd never heard anything like it but I loved it. It truly moved me. To learn more about Ben's music click here.

I really enjoyed being at the symphony. I kept picturing my children up there playing in the symphony. I played the violin for 4 years as a teenager and then quit. It will always be one of my biggest regrets.(Mom, you were so right!) Ashton is now learning to play the violin and it seems she has inherited her fathers musical abilities. She is very driven. I am already grooming Kye to play my favorite instrument, the cello. That's what kids are for, right? To fulfill all the dreams we couldn't achieve ourselves!

Hi! It's me. I'm Lola!

I just have to gush about Little Miss Lola for a minute. She is really beginning to talk. However, she can't say Ashton so she doesn't even try. She calls her Honey. We don't know where she got it but we all love it and often find ourselves also calling Ash, Honey.

At bedtime she sits in her crib and says "Hi! It's me. I'm Lola!". Another favorite thing she says is "sure". She never answers a question with "yes" but instead she says "sure". Lola doesn't like to be alone. She can often be found walking around the house calling for us. She says "Honey, where are you? Kye, where are you? etc." She is truly a joy and has brought so much happiness to our home.
