The Welkers came to town

Aunt Kristi got a Disneyland year pass for Christmas (she is the Disney Queen) and she's been dying to go. This past week she flew in and we spent a day at Disneyland. Winter at Disneyland is the best, mild weather and no lines. What more could you ask for?

Grandpa Rick and Grandma Linda came up for the weekend to enjoy all the San Diego favorites.
By favorites, I mean Ashton, Kye, Lola , and the beach!

We saw all kinds of sea creatures at the beach and even spotted some whale off the shore.

Nature Hike

I know it looks like our life is a vaction but I guess that's what happens when you live in such a beautiful place. There are so many fun things to see and do.

We hiked Torrey Pines. It's something we had never done befor and now it's definitely on our "favorite's" list.

We saw all kinds of wildlife including these 8 dolphins.

This is a Great Blue Herrin. Just one of the many birds found along the coast.

Girl On the Go!

After months of rolling to get where she wanted to go, Lola decided to crawl. It was on Jan. 12th, exactly eight months after her birth, that she really took off. With my first 2 kids this may have worried me. I always wanted them to be "ahead" of other kids their age but not with Lola. I want her to take her own sweet time. I was much more competitive with the older two. It's funny the difference a few years (and hopefully, a little wisdom) can make.

The Harbour

We visited the San Diego Harbour. The old ships were really cool and the kids loved the sea creature statues.

Happy Birhtday Em

Happy Birthday! I wanted to tell you how wonderful you are so I decided to do it, old school, the way we used to when we were kids:

  • E is for everything. You do it all so well, from art to sewing to snowboarding to knitting. You have the natural ability to excel at everything.
  • M is for Milo and motherhood. I have loved watching you become such an amazing mother. It's hard to imagine that life ever existed befor that sweet baby boy.
  • I is for intelligent. Let's face it, we all know you are the smartest one in the family.
  • L is for love( of course). I love having you as my sister.
  • Y is for young. Being my baby sister you will always be young to me.

I love you, Emily.

Tide pools

At Black's beach they have amazing tide pools. We found all kinds of creatures, including this starfish, sea hare and hermit crab. There were also all kinds of fish, crabs and even a moray eel.

Black' s Beach

Yesterday, we hiked down to Black's beach. It's a beautiful private beach here in La Jolla. It is alos known for being a nude beach. Fortunately, we have never encountered the infamous naked old men. It's quite the hike down a little canyon but well worth the trip. It was a wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by all.

Gingerbread House

Ashton and Kye had been waiting and waiting to make a gingerbread house. They were so excited to make it and it turned out so cute!

Cute Cousins

How fun is it to have cousins so close in age? I always loved my cousins and I'm glad Lola has Milo and Fisher.

BFF's

We had a fabulous girlfriend party (ok, so we let our husbands come along). I love all these girls!

Snow Day!

Utah didn't let me down in the snow department. It was truly a "white Christmas".

I'm so glad I'm a country girl. Where else can you pull a sled behind a 4- wheeler on the road?
